Sunday Worship

God has called his people to worship him in spirit and truth. Therefore, we gather every Sunday in the name of our risen King, Jesus. We warmly invite you to join us.

Dress

You will find a range of attire at Risen King Church. Some of us dress formally, others business casual, and still others dress more informally.

Children

When we gather for Sunday worship, we do so (1) to offer our service, praises, prayers, even our whole lives to God as living sacrifices, (2) to receive God’s abundant grace, and (3) to be trained by God’s grace to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in this present age. We believe that these three purposes are not only for adults, but for our children as well. Therefore, we do not offer nursery or children’s programming during the service, but we warmly welcome and eagerly desire whole families to join us in corporate worship. At the same time, we understand that your child may become restless during the service. We have a space available for you to use as needed.

Communion

We take the Lord’s Supper every week. It is the highlight of our service—the moment when we sit down in the presence of God to eat with him in the light of Jesus’s salvation and victory. This meal is a sure sign that we have been adopted into the covenant family of God, ratified by the broken body and blood of Jesus, and sealed forever by the Spirit. Therefore, not only do we raise a glass to our risen King, we feast with our brothers and sisters in the faith. This is a family meal, and a foretaste of the great marriage supper of the Lamb. Therefore, if you are a baptized member of a gospel-preaching church, we gladly welcome you to eat and drink with us.

Liturgy

We model our worship service after a covenant renewal liturgy. This order of worship is best summarized with five C’s: Call, Confession, Consecration, Communion, and Commission. You can find further information about our liturgy here

Music

We love singing the Psalms as well as hymns. The Treasury of Psalms and Hymns is an excellent resource chalk full of psalms adapted to different melodies and other well-known hymns. Our aim is to sing like we mean it, and to highlight the congregation’s voice. The King is risen! The gates of hell are overthrown! The sins of all who trust Christ are paid for, their justification completed, their salvation secured! We sing because we are glad, and because our Savior deserves it. You can find a hymnal before the service near the back along with your worship guide.
